More protection this Winter

 

We are keen to protect as many of our patients as possible over the Winter months and soare offering all eligible patients the opportunity to book in for an RSV, Shingles and/orPneumonia Vaccine. So, who is eligible for these vaccines?

RSV vaccine

The new RSV vaccine helps protect against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) - a common virusthat can make older adults seriously ill. It’s offered to patients if they are pregnant, aged 75to 79, or turned 80 after 1 September 2024

Shingles and/or Pneumonia vaccine

The shingles vaccine helps protect against shingles. It’s recommended for all adults turning65, those aged 70 to 79 and those aged 18 and over with a severely weakened immunesystem. The pneumococcal vaccine helps protect against serious illnesses like pneumoniaand meningitis. It’s recommended for people at higher risk of these illnesses, such as adultsaged 65 and over.

Successful Covid and Flu clinic

With over seven full day vaccination clinics held at the Surgery during October andNovember, with three more planned, plus visits to local care homes and houseboundpatients, our covid & flu clinic teams have given 4,105 flu vaccines and 2,214 covid vaccines -helping to protect our patients during the Winter months.

From the regional flu data available, our Practice has had a higher %age uptake than theentire South West average update across all three key categories: 2/3 year olds; at risk and Over 65s.
