Research Success!
Research helps the NHS increase our knowledge about human health and wellbeing. This is
so we can:
- provide life changing treatments
- diagnose diseases earlier or more accurately
- prevent people from developing conditions
- improve health and care for generations to come
- ensure everyone has a better quality of life.
With the importance of Research becoming more important every day, Clevedon Medical Centre will be creating a dedicated Research Hub, with internal building work expected to be completed by the end of March 2026.
That said, we are already participating in a number of exciting research projects, including:
- Dementia. This trial is looking at patients who are in the early stages of the disease and not likely to have been given a diagnosis of dementia yet. Patients have detailed investigations to see if
- they could go on to develop dementia and are offered a new injection called ‘trontinemab’. Early results from this treatment are encouraging.
- PETRA. This is a new trial looking at the use of pregabalin in treatment resistant anxiety. Potential
- eligible patients will be contacted by us.
- EYE-D. This is a trial looking at a certain type of therapy for patients with depression.
- Easi-Kidney. We have been taking part in this major international clinical trial investigating a new drug called vicadrostat, for people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). As a GP surgery,
- we have been complemented by the project for being the best GP surgery in the UK for recruiting patients to the trial.
